If astronauts traveled to Mars, they would be away from Earth for more than a year. What problems do you think being in space would cause? For example, would the astronauts face health problems, and would the equipment be able to remain in space for so long without maintenance? What could be done to address these and other problems?
or
The cost of completing the ISS (International Space Station) will exceed $60 billion dollars. Do you think that the benefits of this project justify this astronomical cost? If not, how would you recommend this money be spent?

No,i do not think this is right to spend this money on the spaceship.I think this money should be spent on stuff like medicine and hospitals.I also think that it should be spent on repairing the damage caused by storms and hurricanes
I chose the second one:
I don't think that 60 billion dollars is worth spending on the international space station(ISS).
With today's technological advances, we could just make robots do everything for us. Going up in space is a very dangerous thing to do, and if the robots do this, we won't have to. This robot would have to be very human-like, wth the same abilities as well. It would cost a lot, but not as much as the ISS.
ho ho ho MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some problems are...
1) is that they need to eat healthy. greens are not just the healthy things. in health we learned that they need to eat different types of foods to stay healthy. like for example you need to eat everything in the food pyramid, you need fat, vitamins, and etc.
2) another problem is that people cant live on other plants for a year, more like a month. humans, living creatures need carbine dioxide to live. they need air to breathe, without air then we living creatures will die. we need trees and they cant bring a year supply of carbine dioxide to space. no one knows how much supply of carbine dioxide you need.
humans can only last in space for a month or so.
3) another problem is food taste horrible. this is another problem then eating healthy and such.
the food they eat is nasty. i would miss the food here for example i would miss pizza, desserts, soft drinks, etc.
the first food to that they ate in space were squeezed tubes, then powder came along, and etc. the food that they are allowed to eat in space these days are..
chicken
veges
apple sauce
pudding
i would not want to eat those things everyday for a whole year. i would die from not having the great tasting food here. the school lunches even sound better who ever thought that.
4) the last problem is that humans need to be active, in space you cant play, or run, or do anything similar.
humans need to run and get active. you cant just stay there and do nothing. i would die and be in terrible mood if i weren't aloud to run or play, sports.
that would be such a terrible life, do you know what I'm saying.
what we can do to change this is well not much. Somethings just can't change or the problem cant be fixed.
you cant solve these problems. like some foods just cant go to space. that's just there way it is up there. you cant stay up in space for more then about a few months. thats just the way we humans are. we are meant to just stay up there for a few months, we are meant to live in earth. the only planet with living creatures, water, land and etc.
thats the whole thing. there are lots more problems but i think these stand out to me the most.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE
I choose the seconed one
I dont think its worth to spend that much money on spaceshp. This money should be used for more important things like hospitals, schools, and even helping the kids that are poor and cant affored food and water.
I MISS MS.ANDERSON
If astronauts stayed in space for so long they would need food to survive. Also they would need repair the space station for any damages. To address the problems they would need resupplying of resources like food, clothing, dishes, etc.
MRS.DOWSON IS AWESOME
WHO'S THE BEST SCIENCE TEACHER....
MRS.DOWSON
I choose the second question to answer;
Yes, it would cost a LOT of money but it is for a good cause. If no one goes into space, we wont learn about it! There are many other things we could spend the money on but, learning about space is important. In space, we could find cures for diseases and learn about out universe. One day, some people could even live on another planet! I think learning about space is important and the money should be used for the International Space Station (ISS)
I LOVE YOU MRS DOWSON! :)
I MISS MS. ANDERSON TOO!
I choose the first one:
In space the astronauts weight would be different. They barely have weight. If they came back to the Earth they might have problems walking. Their legs and arms may get weaker even if they can exercise in the ISS.
They wouldn't get enough healthy food with the nutrients they need. Freeze dried items packed away aren't very healthy. The only real foods they can bring with them are:
chicken
apple sauce
vegetables
pudding
The astronauts may have trouble breathing when they get back to Earth. The air they are breathing in space is pure oxygen, but on Earth the air has chemicals, dirt, and unhealthy contents in it. What would happen if they had no oxygen left to breath.
What happens if the ISS has some technical problems or gets damaged. The astronauts may be stranded in space and possibly get hurt or even worse die. They would need another space shuttle to go out to them in space and fix the ISS which is risking other lives. This can either be a success or a failure losing lives.
I wouldn't want this to happen.
MRS. DOWSON ROCKS!!! :-}
I chose the second one to answer....
I think that the money is going for a good cause but also it could go for better causes such as homes, schools, food, and water.it is also important to see what is going on in different planets just in case there is a asteroid coming to earth they can warn us.
MRS.DOWSON ROCKS!!!
CANT WAIT TO SEE MISS.ANDERSON!!!
I chose the second one to answer...
I think the money is understandable for a project like this. The ISS gives us important facts in understanding the environment in space. If we do not complete this project, humans may never be able to explore space further. The completion in this project will give us many advantages such as giving us the knowledge to create a world in space. I think the money is being used for a good cause.
I chose the second question to answer:
I think the money is used for a good cause. If we didn't do this project, we wouldn't know about Earth and learn new things about the Earth. Humans would know more about Earth and adapt to any changes in the future. The money used for this prject is a lot, but for humans to go out into space would cost money. We would need equipment when humans go up to space. Going up into space would cost money. I think the money is being used for a good cause
I chose the second one.........
I think that the ISS shouldn't use all this money. I think that the countries that are working together to complete the ISS, should invest in completing it instead of just taking out a bunch of money from their nation's treaury and trying to add it all up to 60 billion $'s. If they invest in it, and keep saving a small amount of the bill each year, they would have money to be able to be used for other purposes such as emergencies, education, and the poor. If they invest, they would be able to complete the ISS, and at the same time, overcome these other missions the countries struggle with.
I chose the second question to blog about
- I think its not worth to use 6 million of Americas money to go on the moon. I dont understand what going to a different planet would help us in any way
- I think that it will be useful in like 100 years when the world could get overly populated and there will be no more room on Earth
- I still dont understand why finding life on other planets it so important to astronomers
- That is what I think on Qestion # 2
i love cheese
I choose the second one. I do think I benifits this project. It will help astronauts by seeing the cinditions of being in space for a long time. so when the go to fing new things they are ready for what it's going to be like. Also, astronauts can study about space much easier if they are in it.
I choose the second question......
- $60 billion dollars could be put into great use. Instead of using that money for a space station it could be used for better and more useful things.
- This huge amount of money could be used to help sick people, feed the people who are hungry.
- It makes much more sense to spend that money on something that is guaranteed rather then something that could not work at all.
- I do agree it is important to have this type of education but I do not get why the ISS should spend so much money on this project. It is good to have this knowledge about other planets and outer space but it could be something smaller because they are STILL completing the ISS.
- Over all I think it is a waste of money to have this huge reject that is not worth $60 million dollars.
This is my opinion on question #2
i like cheese
Hola, everyone and I am here to answer question number two. Well, the question states, the cost of completing ISS will exceed 60 billion dollars! (Which I wish I had) Do you think that the benefits of this project justify this astronomical cost? In my opinion, there can be much better ways to spend this huge amount of money. Below are some things the people of ISS could've spent the money on
1 Built more advanced rocket ships.
2 Put the money towards cancer research. (If they did find a cure for this, more people can help out with the ISS and contribute their time and effort towards it)
3 They could try to invent things people never even imagined like hovercrafts, immediate transportation, and to kill all of diseases, cancers, colds.
4 Or they could just give it all to me!
Mrs. Dowson you are the best science teacher ever!!!!!
Ben
I just thought of some more ideas. Here they are below.
1 build machines that can get farther down into the earth, like the mantle.
2 provide poor families with houses, food, and water.
3 build rocket ships to get millions of miles out into space. They could then send information back to earth and tell them what is there.
Adios :)
I chose the first one
If atronauts traveled to Mars there would be lots of problems. One problem the atronauts would have to face is that everything gets old.The food will get old, the equipment, amd many more. They would also face health problems. If a person on the mission get sick or gets hurt who will help him. That means someone doing a mission will have to tale time out of their mission to help than someonelse would have to fill in for them etc.Nothing would get done if that happened.
Bye Bye
I chose the second one,i think this benefits the $60 billion dollars because although it might be a lot of money if something happens to the earth they could find different life in other planets such as mars. Recently they found water on mars so with more research they could find differnet things more than life. Although it cost a tremendous amount of money it will still benefit everyone, and even if they dont find life they will defenintly know more about space and astronomy. It would be good though if they could spare some money for hospitals,schools,stores,ect.. too!
Mrs.Dowson
Would the astronout get a type of sickness that cant be treated in outerspace? If so would the astronout be able to do his job normally?
I choose the 2nd one.
No, I think that because if the ISS is successful and they find life on space it would cost a lot of money for the shelter an building a community in space
Mrs dowSon is awesome

It would cost a lot of money to complete the ISS project. I think using the money for this task would be very useful. I don't think it should be used for something else. Space is very important to learn about. Also, all the people with dreams of being an astronot would not be able to fulfuil their drems. That is why they should use the money on ISS.
Francesca
P.S. I LOVE MRS DOWSON!<3
I have selcted number two to answer.
Personally, I don't think it is worth to spend $60 billion the ISS. Also I do not think that the benefits of this project justify the astronomical cost. There is way to much money spent on the ISS. I would reccomend this money would be spent towards more reasonable things such as
Providing food to people who do not have the money to provide food to there family.
no, i do not think that all of the $60 billion dollars should be spent on the ISS. Maybe only $30 billion should be spent on the ISS. The rest would go towards other things because if the ISS fails, it would be $60 billion wasted.
(I choose # 2)
I think that there would be a effect on the astronauts they would have lots of difficulties on mars because the humans are not used to the gravity in space and we would have not have the oxygen to live on mars. And if we come prepared for certain sickness they might have a different effect on mars than on earth.
I chose to blog about question 2.
I think that $60 billion is a lot of money to spend for doing a project for the International Space Station. I know it would be good to have this project because they could find more interesting and important findings in space, but there are better ways to use the money.
Better ways to use they money could be like using it on sick children, building more hospitals, building more schools, finding homes for homeless children, and feeding people that don't have food. The list could go on forever.Even thought I think the project is good, I think there are more useful ways to use the money.
I MISS U MRS.ANDERSON
MRS.DOWSON YOU ROCK!!
no i dont think that it was worth it and the thing that they could've done was use the maney to make many different more to find more planets like earth
also there wouldnt be any point because even if we do find a piece of the land that has water and stuff thenit would take a million years to get there and how are we even going to be transported and just to say i am not going through the process that wall e went through when we see those chubby peoples
they should use the mony most on protection/safty.Also they can use more food
hey joshrhim u spelles money wrong and u wrote maney
and wat does thenit
oh wait i get it then it
i choose question number 2 because i think the money could be spent towards food and the astronauts health. maybe you could have an astronaut that could help the other astronauts if they were sick or injured. the ISS project will take a lot of money.they need to be careful with it and use it wisley.
I think this is very unfair they should use this for other purposes such as: building economey and creating jobs for the U.S. State. This could also be used as stuff for the needy why improve something if it doesn't need to be improved, the needy are suffering and we are doing nothing about it. This money should go to charities instead of this new space station
I chose the second one i think some problems are:
1)They might go crazy from being stranded in a spaceship for so long with the same people for more than atleast 2 years.
2)What if the person who was on the spaceship got sick? Docters might not even be on the spaceship! The person could die (not really).
3)What if the astronauts tools broke and they had no extras? Would they be stranded in space forever!
MISS DOWSON IS AWESOME! :D
I LOVE MISS DOWSON AND MISS ANDRESEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SPELLED MISS ANDERSEN WRONG WHOO!
1. If astronauts traveled to Mars, they can black out in their space suits (happens every time in a different planet while you're inside a space suit for a long time). Also, you can faint from the pressure of the space suit.
I choose the second one because if no one goes in space people will be anxious to find out and there will be a lot of questions that scientist can't answer. Scientist cant just guess and give answers if they never tried to go up and experiment and find out what will happen. The planets are important and so is the atmosphere.
i think 60 billion dollors is a lot of money. i don think ISS needs 60 billion dollors and if they fail, we lost 60 billion dollors. instead of wasting 60 billion dollors i think this money should go to charity.
I have two opinions on question two:
Yes 60 billion dollars is a lot to go into space. Instead the money can also be used for:
1. kids or adults with cancer
2. for people who need the money (charity)
3. Use the money to build houses for people that have not enough money to pay the price of a house
4. they do not use the money and save it for any emergencies that happens in the shuttles or people in space
Mrs. Dowson, you are an awesome science teacher!!
Shout out to Ms. Anderson. Happy Holidays everybody!
i think if the astronaut had a little space in its suit, that he would stop breathing and would get health problems. i think that they should find a way to build a new invention and create something 4 maintenance. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :) ;) :P
i think that 60 billion dolars is a lot of money for going in to space and if anything gose wrong the nthat money is going to waste. if they are going to use the money for anything they should use the money not just to build the spaceship but also suits.also they should make everything as safe so that the mission can go right.
I choose the first question:
Astronauts wouldn't be able to call their families up in space. If they were sick, they couldn't go to the doctor or take medicine.
Happy Holidays!!!!! :D
i choose the first question . the problem i think they would have in space is them being hungry and its not good for your blood to float around becuase space has no gravity. i slso think that you wouldnt last long in space
i disagree and agree at the same time. (second question) I think that it is not the right time to spend so much money even though the world (well, much of it) has a finacial crisis(practically) which can lead to trade problems. This money should be better spent on fixing the ecnomy. When everything is better, i think that it will be nice if some of that huge amount of money goes to charity or the 'just in case' money safe. The only way to justify spending $60 billion on a space research spacetion is to see if humans can start starting space colonies (a common dream) and expanding even further, maybe even using to sun's nuclear power (honestly, i don't think that is a good idea, but it's a start. Who know's what gonna happen?) Maybe we can discover some superlumical stuff and travel to other galaxies maybe even bending time and space! (wormholes) (this is according to einstein's theory of relativatly)Anything is possible (and yes, i do believe in aliens, but not the E.T kind) in science, so i would say that there is a good cause of the ISS. The ISS project should be halted, and only maintained, to save money. After the finaceal crisis is over, i suggest that they continue working on the ISS, and speed it up. Happy holidays everyone, and a happy new year.
I chose question 2
i think that it is worth it to spend 60 billion dollars on this spaceship. even though it is alot of money i think the country can at lest split the cost. it is important to see if a human can sustain life on the planet. It would also be a very important difference to our world!!!
I am answering question number one...
If astronauts traveled to Mars and would be away for more than a year, then they would possibly face many issues. They don't know what date it is on Earth and that have to adjust again. And If astronauts are facing health issues, then they wouldn't be able to contact doctors or get medicine.
I'm doin question # 1
There would be many problems if astronauts stayed at mars for a year. One would be that if they had a sickness, there probably wouldn't be anything to help them. and that if they run out of food, they may starve. And they don't have any stores or anything on mars, so they can't just buy things that they need.
I think the cost of the ISS's project is worth it. The project helps us understand more about our galaxy and how space can affect the human body. The information can be used for later use, such as starting a civilization in space.
Since they also perform lab experiments, such as medicine, the research money would also be worth it there.
I did number dos (2)
i think that the iss should not spend all of this money.but insted i think that we should be spending it more on the govement and special need like for canse and medison
kristin s.
question 2:
yes, because its worth it. plus, we can learn more about the different planets and if there is live. like on mars, they discovered that was water on that planet.
-Mrs.Dowson
happy holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they would travel to mars and would tack less the two years.it mite tack less then two years.
No, i don't think that they should spend all that money on a space ship. Instead of spending it on a space ship they should spend it on there spacesuuits or equipment.
I would choose number 2 because all the money shouln't go to the ISS, it should also go to the astronots and if there is a natrual disaster, the money should also go to that.
Hi everybody i wish you happy holidays and ms dowson is the best
i think that spending all that money on a spaceship was a bad idea, i think that spending money on spacesuits, tools, training, etc. is more important
i like cheese...
happy holidays
No,I think they should sped the money on health reasons like medication or stuff that they might need.
I think they have plenty of money so they should slit in half one for health care and the other for space
happy holidays!enjoy the break!

I chose the second one. I think that the benefits of this project do justify this astronomical cost.
I think completing the ISS is worth this astronomical cost because if the ISS succeeds, the rewards will be worth it beacause people can learn more about space and what happens in it with the ISS there.
I think that there would be problems with being in space for a year. Such as having health problems. In space, they can't get medicine as easily as they do in earth which can cause them to have worse problems over time. I think the equipment will be able to stay in space for a year because I think that they set the equipment to stay for a year. To having health problems, they could bring more medicine just in case they might have a problem because its better to have it then not have it.
No. I don't think this kind of money should be spent for the ISS. I think 60 billiion dollars is WAY too much just for the ISS. It should be spent on natural disasters, heath, war and for the government.
would the space people go nuts or go crazy while they are away for so long. they should bring a lot of people to talk to so they dont go cray.
Question number 2:
The money spent on the spaceship is lots of money, but it can be used for other products such as medicine, food, more equipment or more tecnology.
Question 1 Answer:
Going to Mars would take you a year. If you were in space for a year, some problems would be your muscles would get very weak. Your equipment would probably not last that long, without being fixed, which the astronauts probably would not have. If your space suit were to get damaged, you would not be able to go out in space, which may be needed in your mission.
A way to reduce these problems are to excercise very frequently, and eat right(as much as you can with the food provided). A way to reduce the problem of clothes getting ruined, is to bring a couple of each type of clothes you will need to wear.
I think being in space for more than a year would cause many problems like running out of food, and if the astronauts run out of food they can die. Also, people would go crazy because they might be confined in really small spaces to survive
Ray Dellosa said.............
yo boi i choose the second one.I think that the benefits of this project do justify this astronimacal cost.
I think the ISS (a space thing that takes too long to type) Should make the money lower because of what they are doing. For Ex: theyre trying to see if we, Humans, could eventually live in space.
#YOLO
answer for number 2
they could use there money more wisely just by getting the simpler things.Like they could buy a space ship then they could buy food for living and other things that make them satisfied. But they dont have to buy things that the astronamers will not use.
i think that a astronougt would experience some health problems becouse of microgravit and the limited space in a space shuttle.
I choose the second one because if we use all this money to travel into space it doesnt really effect the people on earth when it could like giving it to the poor or donating it to charity.
I think it's worth the cost because it's the 1st time people are staying in space for this long. it's kind of like a test because if this doesn't work out they won't do it again.
i think that the money spend on the iss benefits their cause but also it is too much with things that cant wait around the world
i think that if astronauts stayed in space for a year or more they might go crazy. i think the spaceship would be able to maintain. they could build the spaceship so they dont need maintance and they could try to maintain the equipment and to not go crazy they shoould get time off.

Question one answer:
If astronauts traveled to mars for more than a year, it would be a strugle to stay healthy. like how in space you haveto get more exercise than you do on Earth, due to microgravity. also if you even got the slightest cold it would be bad because you would have to stay in the rocket. i think this because you never want to sprend the germs into your space suit. if you did you would just keep getting sick all over agian.
follow @nicekicks on instagram
I choose number one. Some problems that could occur are:
1)Maybe the astronauts get really sick-they could bring extra medicine with them in case
2)Another problem is that they might not have enough supplies-use a few supplies at a time, or bring extra supplies
follow my dog on twitter @bonemuncher

I chose question 1.
If astronauts traveled to Mars from Earth, it would take a year to get there. That is a long time to be in space and in a spaceship since you first dont even have a shower. When you dont shower enough, it is a higher chance that you can get a disease. Your body wouldnt be washed in a long time and then all the germs are on your body. If you get sick from the germs from not properly washing or not washing at all. You cant shower to get all of the germs of either.
I dont think that the equipment would stay clean for that amount of time. It might start to smell, or get some food stuck to it they could eventually spoil. Anyways, how would they wash the suits or other clothing if they cant even wash themselves?
To help these problems they could maybe try bringing more clothes when they dont wear there suits. To keep themselves clean maybe they could try cleaning there face with water atleast so they dont get face problems. When the water is floating they can put there face near it or in it. Therefore, that is what problems i think they would face if they traveled for a year.
i chose question one that stated what are the problems in space, what could be done to adress these other problems?
the problems i space is that you can only change your clothes every 2 days and you have to eat space food and you only take sponge baths, the face health problem is that you have to be careful when you shave because in space they provided speacil shaving cream, other one is that your hair will get greasy and gross because your not actually taking a proper shower!
no the equipment will need to be maintain because everything will get spoiled and they cant even maintain their selfs becasue they cant even take a proper shower so they get maintain like anything else
you can adress this problem by cleaning them self more often and bringing more clothes are using face cream and other to maintain their face cleaning and other and thast how i think they can maintain all this problems!

I think they do justify this astronomical cost...
i enjoyed playing hubble becasue it fun but at the same time i was learning! =)
But I still think that they could use that money for more useful things... Such as helping those who don't have money and that are poor. Or for food but maybe not for the space station. 60 billions dollars is a lot and we can use it for better things. Maybe in the future when we are more advanst, we can use these for space objects... I take back what I said before... I think that we shouldn't use this money for space objects at thos current time.
if astronauts traveled to mars, they woukd be away from earth for more than a year. i think that they would face many problems such as, health problems. also, the equipment wouldnt be able to last that long. also you probually wouldnt be able to store your "bussiness" beacuse it would get too crowded. the health problems would include getting ill.another problem would be not having enough food. the equioment would weaken and then soon break. to solve these problems you could not send people to space for so long and you need maintance and doctors for the broken stuff sand the ill people....;0
im confused
I liked playing Hubble. I MADE IT TO THE MILKY WAY IN WAY OUT!!!!!!!!
omg guys this website radical
wait. mom. you there?
no one cares olivia
yes honey im here
ikr
I agree with Kailyn, I think that there won't be enough food. I don't think they have enough space to store food for a year. I think the food will get bad maybe not as much as earth but I still think that it will get bad.
narley blog guys. hang loose

MRS DOWSON IS THE BEST TEACHER!
bye bye
JUST CHILLEN BOII
I think that there are also problems with not just food but water because they don't have enough space to store food and water both for a year...
Why are all these people putting weird comments??
I think that 60 biliion $ is too m uch b/c u can use for more important things like health and natural disasters
I choose the second one...
I have to answer in a negative way though... I feel that that 60 billion dollar's should be used for excellent equiptment to go up in space and exactly survive for a large amount of time period.
- Sydney
I think $60 billion is to much money that is waste on the ISS. we can do so many other things with that kind of money. For example, we can use the money for improvements in hospital technology and research for deadly sickness so it could be cured.
STEVEN PRADO SAID... 60 billion dollars is way to much, you can do way more things than us it on the iss! for example you could give it to charity, the hospital, security use ments. SO DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY ON
Josh Chung Says... That Science Is An Awesome Cla$$ And BTW $60 billion dollars is too much for the I.S.S You dont need to go into space and visit mars or other plantes, its a waste of money
$60 billion is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much and u should use it on war, government, and health
I think astrounauts will be up in space for more than a year. When they are in space for more than a year, they problems can occur. They might die because of the pressure of the spacesuit. Health problems they can face are muscle weakness. This happens because they dont use their muscles as much as they do on earth, so if they come back they will be very weak. They can have headaches, or indigestion. The equipment might last if they bring enough. They should bring lots of food beacuse without food, they would die from starvation. They could bring more than they think they will need to adress the problem.
Q2
I think sixty-billion dollars should not be used on the ISS because we have world hunger and our enconomy is low. It could be used for better things.

I dont think the $60 billon dollars should be sent to astronomical cost. The money should be sent to people that are in need such as people that got affected by natural disasters.
Now I'm going to post number 1111.
The astronuts would face health promblem's like the flu, swine flu,and maybe a cold.
They would also have a hard time sleeping but they don't need as much sleep as they would on Earth.
LUV SCIENCE! :)
Joshua H. Said...................
I chose the first question
i think astronauts would face many problems in space for a entire year. One problem is that astronauts would be out of shape for not excerising or playing sports every day. I think this would be a huge issue for astrnauts because that is not healthy, especially for a entire year! Another problem would be is the food they would eat. There is a limit of food astronauts would eat up in space. Astronauts would have to eat that supply of food for a year and it would be sickening to eat that. That could cause astronauts to get sick and not fufill their duty as an astronaut and be available if needed. these are a couple problems most astronauts will face.
I agree with Nyah.
My idea for the problems are that they have to watch out for the shuttle, so nothing could go wrong in the engines.
Another major concern is about the food supply and the water. The food would probaly taste like paper, and what if they run out of food, and is to far to supply them with food.
Along with watching the engines, they have to be alert, causing them to lose sleep time.
They also, might get used to space too much, and get weaker. This could be prevented if they excerize
regularly.

One thing that makes me wonder is, how do they go to the bathroommmmmm?

Anyway, these are all of the problems that might accure during the trip to Mar!
:P
:)
NASA, R U READING THIS?!?!
HEY I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THE ISS SHOULD NOT OF PAYED 60 BILLION DOLLARS FOR THAT SPACE SHIP IN SPACE....................................................................................................
heeyyyyyy guyyyyysssssss
If astronauts traveled to Mars, I think the problems of being in space for a whole year would cause astronauts to be unhealthy. I think the astronauts might be unhealthy beacause they might not have an endless amount of food and water. This leads me up too the concern of the astronauts sleep. They need to be alert of the Space Ship at all times and they barley have time to rest. They also, might get used to space too much, and get weaker. You can prevent this from happening by excersizing. These are all of the problems that might occur during the trip to Mars :)
BLACK HOLES R AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL IT TAKES YOU INTO IN A PARRALLEL UNIVERSE AND SHOWS U COOL STUF
I think that 60 billion dollors is a lot to spend and you could spend it on other things but i think it's worth it because without the space equipment we wouldn't know about blackholes, stars and thier brightness, constellations etc. Maybe if we paid for it we might find cures, and maybe even a way to stop the sun from exploding 5 billion years from now. Even though it's a lot of money I think it's definetly worth it.
THE HUBBLE WEBSITE IS OK.
I LEARNED ABOUT THE BLACK HOLE AND HOW NONE OF OUR PLANETS OR SUN IS GOING TO TURN INTO A BLACK HOLE UNFORTTUINALY.....
ALSO,...The nearest black hole is many lightyears away
AND....Once inside, nothing can escape a black hole's gravity — not even light. :::))).
SAY'S HUBBLE.
Yes i think it was worth building beacuse if we didnt have this we would not know there was anything coming towards our earth that could hurt us. Another reason why this is important is because some of the moey was spent on space equiptment for the astrounts to be safe in space.

this website rocks
I think the hubble website was interesting because I learned a lot of new things and enjoyed many of the games such as WAY OUT!!! This is an interesting game where you try to get the cow to explore the milky way by answering astronomy questions. The animation was cute and funny you should try it. Incunclusion it was OK at times and fun too. :) :) :) :)
The hubble website was..
OK
well.. its kinda boring after a while-
well..
it was boring after one game for me..
It could use more "funner" things in the website.
I mean come on! Who wants to play a game about a cow jumping around in the galaxy?!
Well..
I did play this game- and it was OK
]The animation was funny at times,
but come on.

I think that $60 billion dollars should be used for things like helping homeless people find a home. I think the money used on the ISS is way too much because you're just testing to see if we could build a space colony. Personally, that's not more important than people dying every day from hunger around the world.
I choose the second question.I think it would be worth it to spend $60 billion for ISS because. If the earth explodes one day, we can travel to space to continue our life.It would be hard to get use to, but we'll get use to it.The ISS will save billions of lives if they test if we can live in a different planet. :)
I don't think the $60 billion dollars should go to the ISS becuase it should go it the people without houses so they have somewhere to live.:0
I chose the second question...
I think 60 billion dollars is way too much. I think they should have spent around 20 milllion. I know space gear is really expensive but 60 million still way too much. How many space instruments do they need? The astronauts couldve spent 10 million building the space station and another 10 million on the space equiptment. Maybe if they didnt spend that much the economy could've been better. :D
i chose question number two.i think the benifits are worth this amount of money because the benifits of being able to cure certain diseases that we cant cure on earth is pricless. the knowlege from this space station can also teach us many things about life in a micro gravity enviorment which is imposible to do on earth.
toyosi
I think that humans are wasting $60 billion dollars on a space center to observe space, instead of helping the planet that we live on. $60 billion could prevent poverty and health isues, and could also incise pollution and help our world be a better place.
Doo Doo Doo, Do Dooo Doo Do DDo and zzzz
Doo Doooooooooooooooo
i picked Q2->
i think that 60 billion a lot of money. it shouldnt have been spent on a space station. the world could use that money for other things like finding cures for cancer helping animals donating to charity or helping a hospital...ya...
but seriously 60 billion is a lot.
@('.')@ MONKEY FACE!!!!!
T DO NOT AGREE WITH THE SECOND CHOICE BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU SPEND ALL THAT MONEY PEOPLEZ! But i am doing the first question. I think the changes that astronauts will have is that they will not be used to the gravity that is on mars then earth, like seriously... and also, i think astronauts WILL face SOME problems on earth because they are not used to the earth, so yeah. Also, I think that the equipment WILL NOT survive alone in mars because of the intense things that are going out their at mars. And the last question is that the way to adress them the other problems are that is to terll them to UPDATE THEIR EQUIPMENT (NOW FOR SECOND QUESTION) At least make the spaceship cooler...

For 2..
Yes, I think that the benefits will justify the astonomical cost. This would be worth the cost because this is a chance to find more abouth the universe and everyhting in it. There are things we dont know abouut. It is very possible that there are other living beings out there in the world. There can also be cures for sicknesses. These things can be worth the cost 60 billion dollars and make for a better Earth. It can be a better place to live on.
Question Number 2 No I believe that the 60 billion dollars should be spent differently.
I do beileve it is imporant to finish but not at this given time. I think the cost of this is a little extravagent and should be given to them cheaper or by donations.I think that in a few years with better technology it would be much more usefull. I also thnk it should spent on organizations to help under privilaged children. It should be spent to rebuild from all the world tradgys and use to conquer world hunger. I think we need to learn a lot more about space before we should complete the ISS.
I think that 60 billion dollars is alllllllllllllooooooooootttttttttt of $$$$$$$$$$$. they would pay for schools, jobs, government.
I just realised this is about stars
wait wat if the sky was black in the morning but blue at night?????
I think that the ISS is using too much money just to tests to see if we can live in space!! With 60 BILLION dollars we can end hunger and pay the US debts. Our economy is doing really bad so with 60 billlion dolllars we can make the economy better! If scientists say the world will blow in 5 billion years why should we worry about that if it is so far away?! Personally, we have better needs then test to see if we can build a space colony for the future. In about 50 years scientist would already have more advanceed techonolgy so we won't blow up!!
I think the $60 billion dollars should be spent on world hunger. There are so many children and people who go through life not knowing where they are getting their next maels. Why should we ignore their cries for help by spending so much money on a space ship that in a few years will be useless. I think $60 billion is too much to spending on learning new things on space when many kids go through life without school. Why learn more if so many students are dropping out of school or not even starting. We should at least work on the student population and encourage kids to love school and have fun learning.
I thnik that the $60 billion dollors should not be spent on the ISS because the people that live in the ISS could be haelthy in space but when they come back to Earth they could get really sick. Also the space people could build robots with human like features. They should spend it on world hunger. It will help lots of people. They should use like $25 to $30 billion dollars instead of $60 billion. The rest should be spent on kids that cant go to school. We should give those kids some knowledge about life and then after the kids have some knowing things in life then spend money to build things in space.

I think if the astrounats went to Mars for a year the astronauts will get weak and they will forget how to walk because for a year they will be floating. Also they may run out of food supply and then they die of hunger.
i think that they should just put a camera in a desert and say it is mars insted of spending 60 billion dollars

I think that using $60 billion is good for exploring the world so we know when bad things are coming. And this way we can learn more about space and upgrade our technology.

they should not waste 60 billion dollars on the ISS like we need to worry about things like how many animals are in the planet EARTH.
ALSO they should try and go to mars if the spend 60 billion on the ISS. At least do something cool. We heard about the moon enough. But they should not go alone because if the do for a year they might go crazy and then when they go back to earth they will come out shouting IM THE BANANA KING!!!!
thank you for reading
that stinks that the astronauts cant see their families for 1 year wen they go to mars.
For Hubble,
I looked at the picture gallery. It was pretty interesting. I saw what a supernova would look like. It was actually was a pretty cool picture. The pictures were very interesting since they were thuings ive never thought about and never seen before.
I heard the sky is made of gold juice, is this tue? Im dieing to know! X.X

\hubble is pretty cool i saw weird gslaxies and stuff. Intergalactic gas...... thats akward.

For Hubble,
The gallery showed great big swirling nebulas with different colors. It was very intrusting, with the grand pictures taken by the 'Hubble'. The supernovas seem to explode dust and gas. While glueing my eyes to the sceen, I saw what whites dwarfs look like. I was amazed at the sight of these pictures. It's amazing how far technology broght us.
I don't know why you guys spend so much money on space equitment and not focus on our enviroment.
If they went to Mars for a long time they would miss their families, and with the same surroundings and no one to interract with they wouldnt be very stable, No the equipment would not last for a year or more becuase the space suit could possibly not work very well and the astronuat may die and they maight break the helmet and they would have a diease that can not be cured if either of those three probloms happen mission control would send them a picture of their familes, send the transporter to give them new suits and a new helmet and medicene for that diease.
No, I believe that 60 billion dollars is way too much for the ISS. They could spend less time working on the ISS but work on it more often, like working small pieces overtime with more times to go to space. They could spend their extra money that they would currently have on building streets or paying back debt to other countries. They could donate money to charity. They could build more schools so more people could have a education instead of no education at all. They could even improve schools. Therefore, I belive that they should still spend money for the ISS, just not as much. Maybe they could spend 60% on the ISS and 40% on the things I recently stated.
I think the ISS aas worth the 60 billion dollars. It helped in many experiments, and helped open new horizons. Keep up the good work Nasa!
lololololol mrs.dowson is the best teacher everrr and they would have to bring a bunch a food because they will starve to death and more oxygen tanks for breathing bring medicine for health or u dieeeeeee
MONKEY FACEE @('_')@
I think that 60 billion dollars on the ISS station is not a good price because it is a lot of money. Also I think it is to much for a space station mabey use 15 billion on it not 60 billon. I think it should use 35 billion on medicine because if u go in space it is not as important, as someone who needs medicine. Also people who needs to be cured from cancer will get medicine because they will find one.
I think it is crazy to have a astronauts on a planet for more then a year. I think it might be make them loopy if there on planet for a long time.I think the maintenance will be bad because they don't have the professionals in space like we have on earth. I think maintenace people should be brought up to space with the crew. :0 :):(:0:(:)
I think that it is a little too mush money because what if they cant afford it.I think the amount of the money sould be 55 billon in sted of 60 billon. I kinda agree with the amount because who is paying for all of this. First who is sending them into space, the people that are going in to space and there faimly.Would the goverment help pay for this or do they have to pay for it on there own.I also think what about the wheight about the space ship and the wheight that the astronots will bring on with there suits and luggage.
I think that 55 billion dollars is good enofe money that it will cost for the space trip to mars.
I think that the cost for completing the ISS is used for a good cause. Although it costs 60 billion dollars, this program will allow us to one day go to space if needed. If one day something happened to the Earth and we had to immediately evacuate the planet, where would we go? Space. So, scientists and astronauts that are a part of the ISS will be able to see how long humans can sustain their life in space. If their research is successful, and we can go to space in case of an emergency, it would be quite interesting if a whole different nation was built somewhere out there. Some people may argue that it should be used on medication, but I think that spending all the money on this could guarantee the continuation of the human race for a much longer time than now. That is why i think that the money spent on the ISS is worth while.
I think the ISS should use the money for going to space because we have space stations for a reason, and we need to learn new things. So I agree with with paying the 60 billion dollars because we need to find out if there is new things in the atmosphere, space, moon , sun and ect. We also need to awnser people's questions like is there diffrent life in space? is there a planet like earth? Is there a portal in space? And ect. Now you see why i agree with paying 60 billion dollars.
I think if we send people to mars it will be a lot of money. Also they would need a big space ship to transport all of the food and medicine, also what if you run out of oxogen, you would need alot of more money and space to make the oxogen fit.
Mrs. Dowson your the best MONKEY FACE @('_')@
I am shocked about the discovories we have discovored about the dark energy.
lol hi i am boss lolololololololololololololololololololololo
I think they shouldn't spend so much money on the space program. There are more important things like cancer, animal population, jobs, medicine, war,an peaple:(.So there are more inportant matters in the world.
I think it will be challenging for them because they might miss earth. And maybe they might go crazy for staying in space too long. In addition, it is possible that they might run out of food to eat.
I think that if the astronouts went to space for a year they would not be able to survive because the food woul start getting nasty and without exercie they would get fat! and the water supply wold probly run low and they might run out of water... the space ship would probly start running out of fresh air and they might start getting costrofobic like my mom...the space shutle might start braking with peces fallig off and stuff braking most likely leeds to bad things...like air leeks and and the wiers are mechens braking and stuff...they might run out of gas when they get there then they would be stuck at mars unless they had extra suplys like they could try to have people mantan the space craft but it will probly still brake even if they can try to fix it...the oxegin tanks could run out of air and if they had a leak then it would start letting out oxigin and letting in space air then the people inside would die...when they get there ther is probly alot of stuff that is not there and might not have alot left to survice on the way back to earth..............................
i learned about hobble how we can see things from really really really really really really really far agaw from earth. I would love to have a hobble because space is supre duper amazing and cool looken. I would like to learn new things about space. with the hobble u can see the MIKLY WAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes i believe that there would be other problems for astronaunts if they went to mars like health problems, sleeping, food, sanitation, environment, and many more. so yes i do agree that it would be hard for astronauts to live on mars for a year.
i think they would have problems with getting good sleep and have trouble with bathing mabye after awhile they might have to use less and less water because they might run out of water and smell bad.also if there is no people to talk to they might get bored and wanta come back home.

i think 60 billion dollars is over the limit. I think the money should be used to by more space crafts so more people at one time can fly up to space, so they can get more informationon planets and the sun.
We think that if astronauts were in space for a year that they would be unhealthy. They would not be able to take a shower, or will not be able to eat the right foods that your body needs. We think should have straps or ropes to hold the stuff against the wall. They will not be able to maintaine the equipment that they need for so long.
-Carra And Mansi `
i dont think that anymore than 60 billion dollars should be the cost of completing the iss i think they should put there money to sending more astrounauts to space. i think if they sent more astrounauts to space we would find information quickly and find more of it!
(Hi ian, Hi brian ((Comment above)))
How the money should be spent may be up to them, but if they have to spend over 600,000,000$ EVERY time they go in to space, they should know if there is something to research, otherwise the mission could be a failure and they wouldn't have found out anything. I do not think these benefits justify this astronomical cost if they do not spend it wisely.
I think astronauts will have problems like breathing. They might go on a shortage of food.To fix these problems you would need more food and a bigger station.
If astronauts traveled to Mars and stayed there for more than a year, they would face many problems. Some of those problems could be health problems, sanitation problems, etc.
If astronauts stayed in space for a year, they might have to face health problems. Maybe, while they're in space, they'll run out of medicine. If they run out of medicine and someone gets sick, that person may die. Also, we aren't even sure if some medicines are safe to consume in space.
If astronauts stayed in space for a year, they may also face sanitation problems. An example of this is a shortage of water. They would need to stock up on a LOT of water in order to survive in space with both drinking water and water to bathe. If not, the astronauts might die.
If astronauts were to stay in space for a year, they might have a shortage of important items. These items include food and water. If there was a shortage of these items, they might die.
In conclusion, if astronauts would go to Mars and stay there for a year, they would face many challenges. I wouldn't want to be an astronaut, risking my life to gather information.
I think that the ISS does not deserve 60 billion dollars to support space and planet research i also beleive that there are many more important things like giving people home healing people and hospital research. People are dying and your wasting your time trying to find life on other planets, oh so the ISS thinks they can use ^0 billion dollars while in the world people are dying every day thats not responsible and its out of controle i beleive that 45 billion is enough cant you spare 15 billion on the worlds health. The ISS is not a helpfull thing for people unless they work there and get paid 100's of dollars evry day. Think about other people for onece.
I think problems that they would face would be that they wont get exersise. I think this because they dont walk as much but on some spce hobbles they have bikes to exersise on.Another thing I think would happen is they will run out of food and water. They would get sick form not eating for awhile.
BrianaGrinkin
Michael Scott
Well, I don't beleive $60 billion dollars should be wasted on completing the ISS because once that money has been spent and the station is finished, our rocket scientists; all they can do is sit back, watch, and observe the happenings in space. Where will these discoveries get us in life? We won't be able to make much of a profit off of this information and after all is said and done and our scientists are standing in space, $60 billion dollars will have fell down the drain. I feel there are much more appropriate and responsible ways to spend this collassal amount of money. Millions of people in the world are dying of cancer every second, and America has the nerve to suggest we spend money on an outerspace observer?! YEAH, I don't think so. Money should be spent to further investigate these diseases and different types of cancer so we can find a cure. Also, there are poor kids in Africa just dying to get their hands on a little piece of food or just one toy for entertainment. They're begging for so little, why can't we help them out with this money? I just don't understand how so much money can be irresponsibly thrown away at a cost that no profit will ever amount, while MANY people are suffering out there. Next time you scientists want to waste $60 billion dollars so you can "observe the sky and what lies above", just think AGAIN.
